Basement Flood Cleanup in Whitby
Need basement flood cleanup in Whitby after rain, groundwater, a failed sump pump or a burst water heater? Lakeridge Restoration cuts drywall above the water line and dries whatever the moisture readings say can be saved, so less of your finished basement gets torn out.
Can a finished basement be saved?
Often in part. It depends on the type of water and how long it sat.
- Clean water caught early: drywall can sometimes be dried in place.
- Wet insulation behind drywall usually comes out. It will not dry inside the wall.
- Carpet pad is usually replaced. Laminate that has swelled cannot be saved.
- When drywall has to go, only the part below the cut line is replaced.
How we clean up a flooded basement
- Extract the standing water.
- Remove what cannot be dried.
- Sanitize the affected area.
- Dry with air movers and dehumidifiers until readings are normal.
- Rebuild: insulation, drywall, flooring, baseboards and paint.
How long until it is dry?
That depends on how much water there was and what it soaked into. We stop when the readings say the structure is dry.
Basement flood cleanup cost
Typical cost: $4 to $12 per square foot for cleaning and drying
The main factors are the area that got wet, the water source and how much finished material is replaced.
